Postal Voting for Local Elections

Information on the Police and Crime Commissioner Election and Local Elections taking place on Thursday 6 May 2021

VOTING BY POST: If you do not want to vote in person at your polling station you can apply to vote by post.
To vote by post you need to be registered to vote and then complete a postal vote application form and return the form by post/email. An application form can be downloaded using the following link here. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April.
We will contact you straight away if there is anything wrong with your submitted postal vote application.

REGISTERING TO VOTE
In order to vote, you must be registered on the electoral roll. If you are not already registered, please go to https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
where you can complete your registration in less than 5 minutes, you will need your date of birth and national insurance number.

The deadline to register is midnight on Monday 19 April

You will receive a poll card ahead of the election to let you know where you polling station is and which elections are taking place in your area.

VOTING BY PROXY: If you cannot make it to your polling station or your have missed the deadline to vote by post you can apply for someone you know to vote on your behalf at your polling station.

To vote by proxy, you must complete an application form and return the form by post/email. An application form can be downloaded here. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April

Key Dates:
–          Midnight on Monday 19 April 2021 – Registration Deadline
–          5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021 – Postal Vote Deadline (including amending/cancelling)
–          5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021 – Proxy Vote Deadline (including amending/cancelling)
–          Polling day: Thursday 6 May 2021 – Polling Stations will be open from 7am-10pm
These deadlines are statutory, any applications received after the deadline will not be processed.
