I would like to register my objection to the closure of the doctor’s surgery in Uley.

We have been fortunate indeed to have a main dispensing surgery in our village.  It has provided excellent care for over 5 decades and is very much valued and appreciated by the residents of Uley.  The merger with the Orchard Medical Practice in 2013 was supposed to secure the long-term future of the surgery in Uley but this is now under threat.

The things I value most about Uley surgery are

  • easily accessed by most people in the village,
  • timely appointment system,
  • dispensing services,
  • familiarity of staff etc)
  • Anything else you can think of

The closure of the surgery would have an impact on my life in the following ways:

  • Transport problems, distance, difficulties for those without their own car.
  • Collection of medication
  • Inability to access internet/poor mobile phone coverage
  • Please add any more issues you can think of

I would also like to comment on the wider impact that the proposed closure would have.

  • Loss of valuable facility in the village
  • Elderly and those with limited resources most disadvantaged
  • Government policy to reduce the need for travel
  • Please add any more

I understand that the Care Commissioning Group will be involved in the decision making process about the future of our surgery and I urge you to take  all these concerns into account when the time comes.

Yours sincerely
